Fables of Light Gaeta: how to get there and what you will see

With Fables of Light take a trip around the world in just a few strides
The Fables of Light will take us to Paris, Pisa and even China. This year, however, you will find the Eiffel Tower near Villa delle Sirene, with hundreds of small colourful lights creating a mesmerizing light show. On the other hand In Via Indipendenza, you’ll be walking around the world in just a few steps. In Vincent Capodanno Square you will find the impressive Chinese dragon. Continuing down Via Indipendenza, toward Corso Cavour, you will see the Tower of Pisa soaring in Piazza Goliarda Sapienza. In addition to the light installation, here you can admire the details of this quaint little square such as the mural, the book-shaped benches and the bust of the writer Goliarda Sapienza – to whom the square is dedicated – who spent part of her life in Gaeta.
From the ice skating rink to the hydrogen-powered catamaran
On Lungomare Caboto and in Piazza XIX Maggio, buildings are coloured with Christmas projections. In the square that welcomes City Hall, ice skating enthusiasts can perform at the foot of Sphinxes and the Egyptian pyramid. While those who love gadgets and decorations cannot miss visiting the traditional little wooden houses.
Continuing on to Old Gaeta you can take a walk to appreciate the waterfront and perhaps stop to sample the delicacies at the food stands, or you can take the quaint little train that stops at Piazza Traniello. Along the way you will admire light projections of ships that have made Navy history. In fact, this year, Gaeta played the leading role in the celebrations of the 160th anniversary of its Armed Forces.
Arriving at the Molo Sanità in old Gaeta, you can see up close the first “green” catamaran powered entirely by hydrogen. “The Island”, that’s its name, is a luxury vessel, and made in Gaeta’s OffShore shipyards, since its only emission is steam it has completely zero impact. Also in medieval Gaeta, the little ones can delight in visiting the Villetta comunale, which this year is hosting the inhabitants of the marine world. Here, too, a souvenir photo with the luminous little fish is a must!
